Norsk and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Team Up to Show Real-World TAMS Applications at IBC 2026

The companies will present “Stop Copying Media: TAMS for Open, AI-Ready Media Workflows” at 15:00 on 11 September.

Norsk, the platform for rapidly building complete high availability live workflows, announced today that it is working closely with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) on deploying cloud-based workflows featuring Time-Addressable Media Store (TAMS). The results will be on display at IBC 2026 at the Norsk stand, 5.A53, and the Oracle stand, 5.A21, as well as in the joint talk on September 11.

The TAMS Difference

Broadcast media has always lived in files. That model works until you need a specific moment, want to reuse a clip across workflows, or have to scale to dozens of simultaneous feeds—at which point transcoding, duplication, and file management become the bottleneck.

TAMS takes a different approach. Developed by BBC Research & Development as an open API specification, it stores media as immutable, timestamped segments in commodity object storage and indexes every piece on a precise timeline. Any point is addressable by a flow-ID-and-timestamp pair. The data model builds on Interoperable Master Format (IMF) concepts and shares the reference architecture of Networked Media Open Specifications (NMOS), so timing and identity are preserved between the live and stored domains.

What this changes in practice:

  • One store serves broadcast, post-production, social, and VOD teams from the same content—no per-team copies
  • Commodity object storage replaces high-performance file systems, which can lower cost
  • A common API delivers interoperability across vendor products
  • Segments are accessible the moment they’re written, enabling “edit by reference” workflows that outpace file-based methods

Norsk Studio makes it easy to integrate TAMS into live workflows. Simply drag a TAMS component onto the Studio canvas, then access your recordings via a straightforward player UI with seamless scrubbing. And it all runs on OCI.

See It in Action at IBC

Scott Rose, Lead Principal Product Manager - Broadcast Workflows at OCI, and Adrian Roe, CEO & Co-Founder of Norsk, will present “Stop Copying Media: TAMS for Open, AI-Ready Media Workflows” on Content Everywhere Stage 2 (5.G72) on Friday, September 11 during the IBC 2026 trade show in Amsterdam. You can also see a demo anytime on the Norsk stand, 5.A53, and the Oracle stand, 5.A21.
