Norsk is a complete system for developing, deploying and operating live streaming systems. It brings ultra high-availability at scale. Its foundations have been in the field since 2010 and facilitate hundreds of thousands of live financial news, sports and linear / live online TV channels.
The Norsk difference
Plenty of platforms can move video from A to B. The question is what happens when the stream can't drop, the deadline can't move, and the workflow you shipped last quarter needs to do something new by Friday. That's the job Norsk was built for.
Norsk has run mission-critical live video for over 15 years — in the cloud, on-prem, and across both at once. When AWS US East went down, NASDAQ's Norsk-based infrastructure was back in about a second; their customers never noticed. High availability isn't a tier you pay extra for; it comes from the architecture: automated failover, hitless recovery, and deployment tooling that treats redundancy as the default.
Ingest to delivery, Norsk covers the full production surface: standards and format conversion (SDI, ST 2110, TAMS), live switching and compositing, picture-in-picture and L-band layouts, D-box, overlays, ad insertion and SCTE-35 monetization, and subtitling that converts any text caption format to any other — WebVTT, TTML/IMSC, CTA-608/708, Teletext — without losing colour, styling, or positioning. Low latency where it matters, over Media over QUIC and WebRTC. No second vendor to bolt on, no gaps to bridge.
Stand up a working MVP in hours. Generate a dashboard the same day. Take a new capability to market in weeks, with the risk profile of configuration rather than a ground-up build. Because everything runs on the same proven engine, extending a workflow doesn't mean betting the workflow — iteration is cheap, and rollback is trivial. This is where AI earns its place too: Norsk is AI-centric from design through build, run, and operate, which compounds the speed advantage rather than replacing the humans who use it.
Reliability
High-stakes broadcasts cannot fail. An international sporting event, a breaking news bulletin, or an all-hands streaming to thousands of employees all carry real consequences if the stream drops.
Norsk is built to keep these broadcasts running. It supports redundant source acquisition and automatic failover across servers and cloud regions, so the broadcast continues even when individual components fail.
Norsk also deploys where your content and your team are. Workflows can run on your own hardware, in the cloud, or both, with Norsk Manager scaling capacity across events without manual intervention.

Read more →How it works
Three steps from first workflow to production deployment.
Step 01 — Build
Drag sources, encoders, production enhancements, packagers, and outputs onto the canvas. Connect them with a click. Add graphics overlays, set up source switching, configure ABR ladders — all from a single visual interface. Save any workflow as a reusable template.
Step 02 — Run
Press play to deploy on your own hardware, in the cloud, or both. Norsk runs natively on AWS, GCP, and Akamai. Switch sources and update graphics live without interrupting the stream — all from the same UI.
Step 03 — Connect
Trigger source switches, update overlays, or start recordings with a single HTTP request. Go deeper to build fully custom media applications — in days rather than months. Or hand control to Norsk Reasoning and let AI watch, decide, and act on your streams autonomously.
Capabilities
From encoding to delivery — every component of a professional broadcast stack, built in.
Products
Purpose-built products, each built with Norsk Studio — standalone, or plugged into a larger Norsk workflow.

Stream quality monitoring that catches what signal-presence monitoring misses — including past the DRM packager, without keys.

Flexible billing models — per channel, per hour, or shaped to your use case. No lock-in to a cloud provider's pricing model. Deploy on your hardware or your cloud — the economics stay yours.
On-premises, AWS, GCP, Akamai, or hybrid. Deploy where your content and your team are — and move it when your situation changes.
Billing that fits your use case — per concurrent channel, per hour, or a model shaped to how you actually run. Talk to us about what works for your economics.
No mandatory cloud intermediary. Your content, metadata, and audience data remain in your infrastructure — including for European procurement and data-sovereignty requirements.
Fixed licence, stated assumptions. Model your costs before you commit. No surprise bills when a big event drives a spike.

Norsk Reasoning
We designed Norsk for humans, and humans work best when they aren't drowning in context. It turns out AI agents work exactly the same way.
That's not a coincidence. It's a design principle that paid off twice. In Norsk, the code defines its own documentation and its own interfaces, so neither can drift out of sync with reality. A human reading the docs and an AI agent reading the same interfaces are working from identical sources of truth. Add careful context management and MCP support throughout, and you get a platform where AI can genuinely build, operate, and monitor live workflows, not just comment on them.
The point isn't the AI. The point is what it buys you: dashboards assembled in hours instead of sprints, monitoring that flags quality and acts on it, and the ability to deliver and monetize streams that would otherwise cost too much to run. If a workflow only breaks even with a human in every seat, AI-centric infrastructure is what changes the math.

What teams building on Norsk have to say.
When Amazon US East went down, we had most of our infrastructure running there. Some companies were down for days. We were down for around a second. None of our customers even noticed!
Norsk is the Mjölnir of our media processing workflows and helps us to build quickly and reliably.
Norsk represents the future of how streaming media services will be built. What might have been thousands of lines of code were reduced to just a few.
Get Started
Tell us what you're building and we'll stand up a live Norsk environment for you — a hosted evaluation server, or a pre-built image running in your own AWS, GCP, Oracle Cloud, or Linode account. Your first hour with Norsk goes to exploring workflows, not configuring infrastructure.
